Summer is the perfect season to just kick back, relax, and flip open a book. Fans have been able to capture the BTS members reading novels during their behind-the-scenes videos or even in their programs 'In the Soop,' 'Bon Voyage,' and the like! So here are five novels that the members of BTS have read for your next TBR (Tailored Book Recommendations)!
1. Almond by Sohn Won Pyung: Featured in "In the Soop," fellow member SUGA was seen reading 'Almond,' centered around the story of Yunjae, who was born with a brain condition called Alexithymia that makes it hard for him to feel emotions like fear or anger. But an act of violence completely shatters his world. This novel is focused on how love, friendship, and persistence can change one's life forever.
2. Slam Dunk by Takehiko Inoue: It's no surprise that "Slam Dunk" is recommended by BTS' Suga, as he is an avid basketball fan. Often times he is seen attending NBA games while on tour in the United States. 'Slam Dunk' is a Japanese sports manga written and illustrated by Takehiko Inoue, which tells the story of a basketball team from Shohoku High School located in the Shōnan area of Japan. It's not a book but a classic manga and well worth the read.
3. The Midnight Library by Matt Haig: Also featured during 'In the Soop,' this book by Matt Haig centers around a library wherein each book shows you a life that you could have lived!
4. Life Lessons by Elisabeth Kubler Ross: In her first book on life and living, Elisabeth Kubler-Ross joins David Kessler to guide us through the practical and spiritual lessons we need to learn so that we can live life to its fullest in every moment. Another interesting and insightful book recommendation by SUGA.
5. Pachinko by Min Jin Lee: Recently adapted to a series on Apple TV, 'Pachinko' tells the story of Korean immigrants living in Japan between 1910 and today. A family saga exploring the depths of poverty, war, abuse, and wealth through multiple generations.
