Netizens were struck with amazement at the strict and ruthless response of IU's agency against users suspected of using bots to purchase concert tickets.
Fan club pre-sale for IU's 2022 concert 'The Golden Hour' previously went live on August 8 at 8 PM KST.
Some time later, IU released the following update regarding suspect accounts of illegal ticketing.
EDAM Entertainment stated, "Expulsion of 4 official fan club members suspected of using abnormal means to purchase tickets. We have confirmed that these 4 individuals used abnormal means to enter the ticket sale site multiple times, and thus the following measures were taken against them. 1) Forced expulsion from IU's official fan club and IU's fan cafe. 2) Restricted access of their Melon Ticket ID."
Alongside the announcement, EDAM Entertainment publicized the details of the 4 fan club members who were expelled for suspected attempt to use ticketing bots, including their last names and first name syllables, their fan club generation, and pre-sale access number.
Of the fan club members listed, those who wish to justify their abnormal ticket purchasing pattern can send all evidence to the email address listed above.
Lastly, EDAM Entertainment emphasized that the agency is currently confirming several cases of illegal ticket transaction reports sent in by fans, and that more updates will be published soon.
IU understands that fans who are just regular people can't buy a ticket to a popular artist's concert. There's a YouTube video posted on one of these articles where IU tries (and fails) to buy a ticket to an IU concert. It makes me mad to check out a concert only to find that it sold out within the first minute, but "Aftermarket Sales" have plenty of seats available. I'm happy to see someone take a bite out of that dirty resale business.
