Even just a few years ago, not many people outside of the small peninsula of Korea knew about the country.

Of course, people worldwide slowly began recognizing South Korea with the boom of K-pop through various amazing idol groups such as Girls' Generation, Big Bang, Wonder Girls, and more.

However, BTS is undeniably the biggest K-pop group yet as they have set multiple records and wrote new history in the Korean music industry. This K-pop act truly brought about a worldwide phenomenon as they have become a household name in the K-pop industry, being recognized everywhere.

One netizen expressed how impressed with they were with the group as BTS managed to change the perception of South Korea in recent years. She explained, 'I think BTS is amazing because when you watch Korean travel YouTubers, everyone talks about 'BTS' when they're asked where they are from and they say 'Korea.' The photos below are captured photos from a YouTube video. The traveler went to France, and they were at a market when the merchant asked where they were from. When the traveler said 'Korea,' the merchant said, 'Beautiful country, BTS is from there.' And they start talking about BTS."

Additionally, thousands, if not millions, of BTS fans gathered in London to watch a billboard of the group's advertisement that was released. The BTS x Hyundai advertisement was released on the iconic Piccadilly Circus billboard screen on May 31, and many fans flocked to the square to see BTS's new advertisement video on the big screen.

Other netizens commented, "This is so true, I was overseas when BTS started getting big. Before, people would ask me 'Are you Chinese?' but then now they all say 'Ahnyounghahaeyo.' Even back in 2015, I feel people didn't really know Korea. If you are Asian they would usually say Chinese, Japanese, and then last would be Korean," "I think a lot more people started knowing Korea because of BTS," "There so many people who ask about BTS if you say you're from Korea."

Other netizens included photos in which other travel YouTubers would travel overseas and meet foreign people. When they say they are from South Korea, these foreign individuals would automatically ask about BTS.
