On June 13, BTS members sat down for the annual 'Festa Dinner' and shared their honest thoughts while announcing their group hiatus. Although the group had previously taken long breaks after promotions, this hiatus seemed different as the members announced they will be focusing on individual activities.
Additionally, leader RM shared the reasons why the group needs to focus on individual activities. On this day, RM confessed that he no longer knew which direction he needed to take the group as a leader. He explained, "I didn't know what I would do after 'ON,' but then COVID-19 came, so we did 'Dynamite', 'Butter', 'Permission to Dance,' and 'Life Goes On.' And I realized that the group has definitely changed. We have to accept that we've changed. For me, it was like the group BTS was within my grasp until 'ON' and 'Dynamite.' But after 'Butter' and 'Permission to Dance,' I didn't know what kind of group we were anymore."
Not only were fans shocked, but HYBE's stock value decreased drastically as soon as the group made the announcement of their hiatus. Additionally, there was much commotion as there were even speculations that the group might disband as the member expressed how worn out they had been promoting for nine years straight.
In response to this, RM left a lengthy letter expressing his honest thoughts in regards to the speculations due to the remarks the group made during the 'Festa Dinner.'
RM wrote on Weverse saying, "I've received the most contact since I debuted after the broadcast aired. Seeing the captures and the article headlines that were sent to me, there were many stimulating and fragmented keywords such as 'disbandment,' 'declaring a stop on promotions,' etc..." He continued to say, "It's not like I didn't know this would happen or was prepared for this to happen, but it's still very bitter. It wasn't that we were expecting everyone to leave their opinions after watching our full video ... but the BTS 'dinner' is an occasional content format that was aired on June 13, which was a significant date. It was a video dedicated to all ARMYs who have been with us for nine years."
The BTS leader further expressed, "It was time when we were able to confess our true feelings to the fans who have been connecting with us. People who saw the video would know, but the message that we truly wanted to convey was - just like the song title 'Yet to Come' - that this is not the end."
RM continued to assure fans that BTS will not disband and explained that the members always talk openly about the future and the success of the group. He explained, "What I want to say is that we did not hide the truth by saying 2 is 1. We have said 1 is 1 and just wanted to share our honest thoughts in courage and in tears. I believe and have no doubt that ARMYs would understand us. What we said in the video is everything. Jungkook and V did explain it well but we always openly talk about the long-term future of BTS."
The BTS leader concluded by thanking everyone for showing support and reassured fans by saying that the group will put forth the effort to show their good side, whether it is through group activities or solo activities. He stated, "I want to thank everyone who has supported us with support, love, and energy whether from afar or close. We will put forth the effort to show our good side whether it be through group or individual activities. Thank you."
I swear some of y'all need to calm down. They haven't died, nor are they going away forever. All they're doing is taking a much needed break.
