Netizens shared the alleged fees for aespa, Red Velvet, AKMU, rapper Be'O and JUSTHIS, and Psy to perform at college festivals.
On May 30th, a post landed on a trending page of one of the biggest online communities in Korea for sharing the fees for certain artists to perform at university festivals. According to the original poster, aespa was the most expensive artist to invite at 50 million KRW(about $40,447 USD). Next came Red Velvet and AKMU at 40 million KRW, followed by rapper Be'O and JUSTHIS at 30 million KRW. He says Psy was surprisingly inexpensive to invite at 15 million KRW.
It seems the original poster made speculations based on the recent article revealing artists' fees at college festivals. The article says the top girl group with signature choreography A received 50 million, the top band B received 40 million, and hip hop artist C received 30 million. Psy's fees are lower than A, B, or C because he insists college festivals are to be enjoyed by everyone.
The post prompted many netizens to share their opinions in the comments such as:
"lol then aespa lip-synced after getting paid 50 million KRW"
"I think Psy lowered his rate because he recently released a new album and he loves festivals himself."
"Omg, Psy is just volunteering at that rate lol He brings all the dancers, managers, and staff that need multiple vehicles. With costs for costumes, hair, and makeup, he truly is volunteering his time."
"At this point why spend that much money to invite girl groups lol What's the difference between them and dancers if they aren't singing live anyway."
"I guess Psy really loves festivals lol"
I would ask for a refund if the act that I paid $40,000 for lipsynced at my event. SM should just have the aes be aespa instead of human beings if they are going to continue this way.
