IU garners praise for allowing the drama 'The Sound of Magic' to use her song for free

Director Kim Seong Yoon of Netflix's original 'The Sound of Magic' expressed his gratitude to singer IU.

According to Celeb Media, on the 9th, director Kim Seong Yoon said, "At the ending scene, we used the song 'Knees' and we put Lee Ji Eun, which is IU's real name, in the ending credits. But to do that, we have to actually purchase the copyright to release 'Knees' worldwide in the drama. So, I contacted her but she said, 'I wrote and composed the song myself, so you can just use it.' I was so thankful. We know each other while filming 'Dream High'."

The song "Knees" is the song that represents IU, chosen by the singer herself. In her past concert, she said, "When I die - when I die of old age - the songs I want to be remembered as 'IU's representative songs' are 'Heart', 'Knees', and 'Night Letter'." 

Netflix's 'The Sound of Magic' is a drama based on a webtoon of the same name serialized in 2010 by webtoon writer Ha Il Kwon. It tells a magical story of a magician living in an abandoned theme park and a disenchanted teenager enduring harsh realities.

Meanwhile, IU is set to release her movie 'The Broker' on June 8th. The movie 'The Broker' is a movie depicting the story of people who are involved with the baby box, which is a safe box designed for people who cannot raise children to leave their babies anonymously.
