Recently unveiled 'KOFICE 2021 Hallyu Report' and 'Semrush' data further proves why Jimin is a 'GLOBAL IT BOY'
Jimin has been recognized as the 'IT Boy' for several years owing to his immeasurable power and influence not just in South Korea but also internationally. Data analytics in different geographical regions and on various platforms always position him as the most mentioned name in relation to matters of K-pop, BTS, or even South Korea, proving his high popularity status. New data reports released recently from two different entities have further proven Jimin's impact and 'IT Boy' status after revealing him to be the most mentioned person concerning several topics.
On April 18, the KOFICE 2021 Hallyu report placed Jimin among the most-mentioned names on topics like K-pop, K-variety, and K-Food, for the second half of 2021.
This comes just when the brand reputation report for individual male idols for April 2022 placed him at #1 yet again, making it his 40th month to rank #1. He had previously had a 35-month winning streak in this ranking, up until November 2021. This further proves his 'King of K-pop' status.
Additionally, Korean media had just reported on April 17 on how Samyang Foods ended up sponsoring BTS' recently completed concerts in Las Vegas, whereby two staff members of the company had cited Jimin to be the reason behind this sponsorship decision [refer here]. Jimin has been a key figure in the increase of various Korean food items such as Citron tea and Dageumabri [read here], as well as Dumplings, Tteokbokki, and Spicy Chicken Noodles [read here and here].
Therefore, there is no denying the fact that Jimin is a key figure in Korean food promotion and in K-pop's popularity across the globe.
In a different data report, Semrush indicated that over 2.2 millionpeople Google Jimin each month, most of whom are from Mexico, the US, and the Philippines.
This report is consistent with data collected a few months back from Google trends, which showed that Jimin was the most searched BTS member over the past year and the past five years in the 'News' category and the 'Celebrity and Entertainment' category, as per data collected up until August 2021 [refer here].
Considering the Semrush report that shows that Mexico was the leading country in the most searches, this data is also consistent with a report released in June 2021 by Comscore, which showed that BTS was the most mentioned name in relation to K-pop in all of Latin America, and that Jimin was the most mentioned among all the BTS members, accounting for 25.6% of the group's total mentions.
Moreover, as reported on March 16, 'GLOBAL IT BOY JIMIN' appeared as one of the tags among the current trends on Brazil's social media.
Thus, it is safe to say Jimin is the most popular idol in Latin America by virtue of these statistics.
In other reports for other regions, Ninja Marketing reported that #Jimin was the 43rd most used hashtag in Italy on Twitter in 2021, and he was the only Asian celebrity on the Top 50 list.
Additionally, Jimin ranked 3rd and 4th among the most mentioned K-pop artists in Argentina and Chile, respectively, for 2021. He was the highest BTS member on the Chilean list.
