The members of BIGBANG have achieved another milestone with their chart-topping comeback single "Still Life." On April 30th, the pioneers of K-pop won this week's Music Core, thereby securing their 100th music show win in total. They are the first artist from YG Entertainment and the 5th artist overall to achieve this. BIGBANG hasn't released the song in a physical format or promoted it, making this win all the more exciting. The group's first win came on September 7, 2007, on Music Bank for "Lies."
Furthermore, at the time of writing, "Still Life" has managed to remain at #1 on both MelOn and Genie despite facing stiff competition from the trot singer Lim Young Woong and the global phenomenon PSY. On MelOn, South Korea's largest music streaming service, the song has occupied the top position for 606 hours and is still going strong.
"Still Life" is the only idol group song to top the chart for over 500 hours under the current system and has surpassed Kim Minseok's "Drunken Confession" to become the song with most hours at #1 on MelOn this year.
Congratulations to BIGBANG for these amazing achievements!
BIGBANG is that iconic of a group because they have more wins than their entire Korean discography. 🤧 Kings of hiatus yet slaying with every comeback. They truly are legendary. If we had to add up all their music show wins as a group + sub-unit + solos... damn! 🙌
