BTS Jimin's performance of Black Swan has always been praised for its high artistic expression, which draws from his contemporary dance background.

In an article titled, The Stunning artistry of BTS's Black Swan, online Science fiction and fantasy magazine Tor.com delivered a lengthy discourse on BTS' performance of their hit song Black Swan.

Jimin, whom the members commonly refer to as their Black Swan, was trained in contemporary dance at the Busan Arts High school and has a moving solo dance in the music video. Apart from sprouting wings across various iterations of the song in the MV, it is he who leads the group as they work outside their comfort zones in terms of dance style.

The article added that Jimin not only takes on more in the choreography for his solos or unit dance with Jungkook, but he also brings in an emotional element that tells the story. That is, he breathes life into the shadows that represent the Black Swan within the other members, one that is always threatening to escape.

BTS was applauded for pushing the limits of pop music by incorporating ballet, contemporary, and performance art with the song Black Swan. The message weaved throughout is one that evokes the need to continue feeling the passion for music and art, as has always been the goal of BTS. 

When performing the song, BTS went barefoot for the music video and on The Late Late Show with James Corden. This occurrence may have been unusual for the other members and required much practice. However, In the case of Jimin, this suited his artistic sensibility, a sense confirmed through his Weverse magazine interview where he stated that he always prefers going barefoot when doing classical style dance, and although it looks sharp and attractive when wearing dress shoes, it felt more natural to express himself barefoot for a dynamic effect.

Following BTS' Permission To Dance Concert in Las Vegas, a post about Jimin during Black swan was found trending on TheQoo's Hot category with over 27K views and hundreds of comments. In the post, Netizens discussed how Jimin's clothes looked like they were flying especially when he threw off his jacket before starting.
