Melon announced that it would introduce ‘Melon Spotlight’, a service that illuminates new artist releases by gathering all of its capabilities as a music platform. Melon plans to further revitalize the K-pop industry, centering on the ‘Melon Spotlight’ in the future.
The first group to receive a 'Melon Spotlight' for the month of March is NCT Dream, who recently released their 2nd full album 'Glitch' Mode'.
Heo Jun Hyeok, head of Melon’s music business strategy alliance, said, “Through ‘Melon Spotlight’, artists can actively market and promote their new album through various channels including the Melon app. Fans and Melon users can meet various content related to the artist’s new album through this service. In fact, fans can meet artists and find all content at once through 'Melon Spotlight' without having to go to multiple places to find content such as music sources, videos, images, and audio for their favorite artists. We expect that it will be a service that connects people.”
‘Melon Spotlight’ will also be displayed in the second topmost area on the main screen of the Melon app. Through this, 5 million paid members visiting Melon can immediately find the new albums being released; 'Melon Station,' original audio content in the form of a music broadcast; 'Melon Magazine' containing trendy introductions by professional writers; music videos and various contents including photos, social media pages, and playlists; and events and Melon's SNS channels.
At K-POP Square, Samsung Station, contents such as teasers and music videos of the albums selected for 'Melon Spotlight' will be shown along with Melon BI (Brand Identity) in line with the promotional period for the artist's new album, starting this month.
Look forward to more exciting new artist features through 'Melon Spotlight'!
Well, as long as they don't admit users from abroad (in a legal way i mean)... I'm not interested at all... I'll continue with Spotify and the hundreds of other options that compete with them and at least we can use them comfortably and legally (even if they ever want users again from abroad... it will be difficult to catch my interest in Melon)
