Jaejoong is under fire for a violation of election law.
On March 5, Jaejoong took to his personal Instagram where he posted a photo of his own ballot paper for South Korea's 2022 presidential election. He shortly afterwards received criticism for violating the election law, as it is illegal for anyone to take pictures inside the polling booth.
In the image, Jaejoong had written: "Let's all vote" and "Voting done."
Although they understood that he only meant to confirm his own vote and to encourage others to do the same, fans and netizens alike criticized the singer for not being careful enough in matters of public affairs. According to the election law, taking a photo of a ballot paper and posting it on social media or sending it via text message can result in up to 2 years of imprisonment or a fine of up to 4,000,000 KRW.
