On January 18, GFRIEND’s Yuju held a press conference for the release of her solo debut album 'REC.', marking the beginning of her new path after joining Konnect Entertainment. During the press conference she shared a funny anecdote when singer Kang Daniel, the CEO of Konnect Entertainment, had to act rapidly to prevent the leak of her song “Play” before it was released.
Yuju explained:
“Last year, when Kang Daniel was doing a live broadcast, I played the song so loudly in the practice room and the sound leaked. But Kang Daniel was very quick to respond and it prevented a major accident. Once again, when I think of that time, I would like to express my gratitude. He covered it up as white noise.”
The moment during the live broadcast, which happened last December, had Kang Daniel freezing as soon as the song began playing. He exclaimed,“ Do you hear that? Ohhh no no,” and whipped out his phone to call someone. As staff behind the camera signaled to him that they were handling it, Kang Daniel relaxed and tried covering it up with, “Everyone, the music that you heard before is… nothing. Just random noise. White noise.”
Weeks later, Yuju teased her album and fans realized the song playing was Yuju’s debut song. The moment quickly spread on social media, with fans joking that this is how music company CEOs act when they see their artist’s song has been leaked:
@unofficialclown this is an example of how your idols CEO reaction to spoiler guys😭😭 #kangdaniel #yuju #konnect #konnectentertainment #kpopfyp #fypシ ♬ Oh No - Kreepa
Yuju will launch activities for her solo debut ‘REC.’ including music shows, fansigns, and an appearance on Jessi’s Showterview.

Time and time again, Kang Daniel builds a reputation of being a considerate person. I hope Yuju does well as a soloist <3
