Netizens reacted to tvN's variety show 'Yoo Quiz On The Block' editing Jessica out from Girls' Generation's early debut group photo.
On the December 1 broadcast of tvN's 'Yoo Quiz On The Block', Min Hee Jin, a former creative director at SM Entertainment, and current CEO of a new label under HYBE Labels, appeared as a guest. Here, Min Hee Jin's past work with Girls' Generation was shown on the screen, but netizens noticed that one particular group photo from Girls' Generation's early debut days had completely edited Jessica out. The editing was done in a very natural way, where it was almost impossible to notice that Jessica had been edited out until netizens found the original photo from 2010.
Some netizens thought the decision to edit Jessica out from the photo made sense, considering her departure from Girls' Generation back in 2014:
"Jessica already left, so they edited it like that in consideration of the fans."
"She should be edited out. If they left it as is, things would have been worse."
"They edited her out because she's no longer a Girls' Generation member. Is the problem that serious that they have to write a whole article about it?"
"So what? It's because she's no longer a Girls' Generation member."
"Jessica left because she wanted to, and it'll put Girls' Generation fans in an uncomfortable position [if they didn't edit her out], so isn't that why they erased her?"
"It's not like she left on good terms, so of course they have to edit her out."
"She's no longer a member, so why is it a problem that she was edited out? If they didn't edit her out, things would have been more chaotic."
Other netizens thought Jessica should not have been edited out from the photo:
"It's a little too much that they edited her out."
"Did they really have to do that?"
"Isn't it not a big deal to show her past active promotions?"
"She's not even a criminal, editing her out is going too far."
"This is kind of ridiculous, they could have just used a different photo."
"This is a bit weird. Did they really have to choose a photo from when they promoted together, and photoshop it to edit her out? Lolll The public's memory of Girls' Generation during their peak career remains as 9 members, and this is a fact that everyone knows."

^^ This ^^
I don't understand why this is so taboo for the public and fans. I feel like SNSD and Jessica are both beyond this being an issue, especially when it was a time that she was actually active in the group and at a crucial point in their careers. I just find this to be so petty, immature, and disrespectful no matter your reasoning. Also, Jessica didn't leave. Idk why antis keep saying this when it has literally been confirmed by SM that she was kicked out of the group regardless of who was involved in that decision, it was not Jessica that chose to leave and she was indeed removed. Even if she's not a member anymore, she was a member at that time. It's not like they re-recorded all their past songs as they still use the original tracks with her voice at times. The truth is, Jessica can never be erased from SNSD. Even if she's not part of the group officially, it's not like she spent a year or two in the group with no contribution. Just as the comment says, "The public's memory of Girls' Generation during their peak career remains as 9 members, and this is a fact that everyone knows".
