On November 24, an actress beat out IU, who has 23.72 million followers on Instagram and became the eighth-most followed celebrity in South Korea.
On this day, actress Jung Ho Yeon became the 8th most-followed Korean celebrity with 23.73 million followers, pushing IU to ninth place. With the popularity of the megahit 'Squid Game' series, Jung Ho Yeon rose to stardom overnight as her Instagram follower number increased from approximately 400,000 followers to 23.73 million followers.
Jung Ho Yeon also surprised netizens as she signed an exclusive contract with Creative Artists Agency. Earlier this month, reports revealed the 'Squid Game' actress signed with major American talent and sports agency Creative Artists Agency, which is also home to stars such as Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Beyonce, Norah Jones, Cardi B, and Justin Bieber.
Meanwhile, the most followed Korean celebrity in Korea is BLACKPINK's Jennie with 57.40 million followers, followed by BTS, then BLACKPINK's Jisoo, Rose, followed by BLACKPINK's official Instagram, actor Lee Min Ho, and Cha Eun Woo in 7th place.
I am still surprise that IU is on Top 10 even without Internationally acclaimed Activity.. She hasn't even had an western concert, I haven't even heard her attending a Western Event..
