ENHYPEN Jungwon's allegedly "inappropriate" remarks to fans who the took college entrance exam have become an issue online.
Jungwon made the statements during ENHYPEN's VLive 'D-1' on November 18, and since then, he posted an apology addressing the issue on Weverse. He wrote the following:
"Hello, ENGENEs. This is Jungwon.I wanted to talk to ENGENEs before the fan meeting today so I decided to write this.
I would like to apologize for what I said previously during yesterday's Vlive that does not have a deep understanding of the feelings of those who took the college entrance exam (CSAT).
I was nervous at that time as well as excited at the time we did Vlive, so I wasn't able to understand the feeling of the exam takers who had a difficult time studying for too long. I felt I was immature. I am so sorry.
To fans who will come to our fan meeting today, I will do my best to reassure that you will enjoy it with a good mindset.
I will be more careful and thoughtful in the near future."
Fans responded:
"Jungwon, I'm so proud of you for being so brave in owning your mistakes, but remember mistakes are part of every person's life. You do not have to dwell in it for too long."
"I'm so proud of Jungwon! I'm so glad he owned up to his mistake and apologized to the people who he potentially hurt with his words."
"The fact that Jungwon apologized hours before the fan meet to make ENGENEs feel better makes me so proud of him. He accepts his faults, and he's ready to grow more."
I think he meant to say those who were watching the vlive the day before wasn't studying but it came out wrong. It did sound offensive. But his apology makes sense - being excited and nervous can make people say things they didn't mean. Oh well I hope he's handling it well; must have gotten so much hate so quickly.
