On November 30, Apple Music revealed the biggest songs of the year on their platform with its annual Top 100 charts.
These global charts highlight and celebrate another incredible year in music, and provide a truly unique and global perspective on the year's biggest music. The year 2021 was one of the most significant years for K-pop as its popularity and influence spread further across the globe.
According to the Year-End Charts, BTS's "Dynamite" was the most-streamed song on Apple Music in 2021. BTS's "Butter" was also on the chart at number 21. Apple Music said, "After a year in which much of the world’s population was trapped in their homes, 2021 was all about having one foot out the door. This chart compiling the most-streamed songs across the globe on Apple Music between October 16, 2020, and October 15, 2021, is a mirror of that tentativeness and hopefulness—a mix of thrilling new hits that helped shake the world from its stasis alongside favorites we returned to when that jolt felt like too much. What they all have in common, from hip-hop upstarts to a wave of Japanese artists striving in streaming to a K-pop juggernaut primed for planetary domination, is that they brought comfort and catharsis at a time when we all needed them most."
Additionally, BTS's "Dynamite" was #4 and "Butter" #13 on the "Most-Read" lyrics chart.
BTS celebrated their biggest year yet as they dominated the Billboard charts, and they took three awards, including the Artists of the Year award, at the American Music Awards. With this, BTS became the first and only Asian act to win the 'Artist of the Year', setting a new milestone for K-pop history.
Congratulations kings👏
