Fans have been super-excited about watching the latest Marvel production 'Eternals' just to witness Jimin's name in the credits at the end of the movie. Many have bought tickets for the movie and have taken recordings and photos of his name on the theaters' screens and posted on Twitter with pride. There have also been nationwide advertisements by fans that started to run on November 3 when the movie opened in theatres. All in all, the inclusion of the song 'Friends,' written, composed, and produced by Jimin, has brought lots of publicity and revenues for the movie.
It would appear that both the movie's production team and the film production company under which the movie was released have taken note of his impact in favor of the movie. On November 6, the 'Eternals' official account on Twitter posted a screenshot of Jimin's name credited under 'Friends' as a songwriter, just as fans have been doing, and the Marvel Studios official account retweeted this tweet. This was a clear indication of recognition and acknowledgment of Jimin's positive impact on the movie from both parties, which has mainly been evident in terms of publicity and revenue from ticket sales.
Just after this tweet by @TheEternals, fans were once again filled with joy and pride to see their idol and his contribution to the movie be acknowledged. As they expressed their happiness for Jimin and congratulated him, 5 Jimin-related keywords entered Twitter trends immediately.
For media coverage, there have been non-stop articles from different media outlets in South Korea and internationally covering the news of Jimin's first-ever self-written, composed, and produced song being included in the 'Eternals' movie as a soundtrack. Star News, Newsen, GQ, Sports Web, Naver, Osen, National Defense Daily Newspaper, Daily Sports, Sports Today, and many other online news publications have been reporting on the news and have therefore generated lots of publicity for the movie. Additionally, all the major television stations covered the news repeatedly as well, including YTN, OBS, SBS Morning Wide, KBS, MBC, and JTBC. Internationally, there were publications from Teen Vogue, Republic World, Bollywood Life, Music Times, Hindustan Times, News Week, News Break, and many others. Moreover, having seen the level of attention that the news had drawn, the major news networks further reported on how everyone has been talking about it.
The media is still covering the news, such as the latest publications from Pop Sugar and Esquire magazines in the US, Marie Claire in South Korea, Korea Star Daily in China, and Kompas TV in Indonesia, to mention a few.
All these publications and news reports on television have failed to mention that Jimin wrote, composed, and produced the song 'Friends.' As such, the publicity generated can be credited to Jimin's involvement.
Some fans organized some advertisement campaigns that have undoubtedly contributed to the movie's publicity were also present in South Korea and Paraguay.
The media outlets have mostly been reporting on the news due to the reception of the news by fans on Twitter, who got various hashtags and keywords trending on Twitter congratulating Jimin. The trends appeared in multiple countries and also on the worldwide trends list right from the day when the news came to light until the day of the opening of the movie in theatres worldwide.
In terms of revenues, Deadline Hollywood reported that 'Eternals' had the biggest opening day at the Wednesday Box Office in South Korea with $2.6 Million, making it the second-best opening day in the country during the pandemic. More reports showed that South Korea had the biggest opening day in revenues out of the 14 markets on which the movie opened on Wednesday. As of November 5, before the Friday screenings, South Korea was the second highest market in revenues with $4.1 Million, just behind the US and Canada, and the numbers went up to $6.2 Million after Friday and South Korea remains to be the leading international Box Office market thus far. Saturday alone pulled $4.4 Million. The market is pulling solid numbers.
Jimin's fans have been rallying up to support him in South Korea, and it is no surprise that the country racked up the best numbers out of all the opening markets. Fans organized to meet up and watch the movie together in Daegu on Wednesday, and the following days there were meet-ups in Ilsan, Gangnam, and Busan.
More fans on the international scene have also purchased tickets and watched the movie and have posted various reactions and Jimin's name in the ending credits, of course. The posts so far are numerous. Here are a few of them.
Jimin's impact on the success of the movie in theatres is undeniable, and fans are praising the movie's production team and the production studio for acknowledging his contribution to the good results being posted.
It is worth noting that Marvel Studios is one of the biggest and most influential film production companies in Hollywood and in the world, and it has never needed outside help to generate interest in its movies nor sell tickets. In fact, it is usually the other way round whereby the company is the one that raises the status of anyone or anything associated with it, be it actors/actresses, directors, or movies. Therefore, it is a big deal that the company actually acknowledged Jimin in this way.
This is such a huge deal 🤯 his first produced song made him the first and only idol Korean idol to appear in Hollywood movies credits although it’s unprompted b-side track, not to mention friends is the first and only Korean song to achieve that, and i love how fans are celebrating this huge achievement, jimin is so impactful can’t wait for pjm1!
