NO:EL, former 'High School Rapper' contestant and son of congressman Jang Je Won, has cleared out his Instagram account following criticism of comments he made allegedly mocking those eligible for COVID-19 related government support money.
On September 10 KST, the rapper posted an Instagram Story containing a screen capture of a netizen commenting that NO:EL's recently released single "Trend Setter" was not good. In a profanity-riddled response, he mocked people who pretend to be bold on the Internet, all the while "doing somersaults because they were glad to receive disaster support money."
As harsh criticism continued to be released in response to the single, he continued to take screen captures and respond to it, drawing criticism from netizens for coming off as bitter. In the process, he also created controversy by irrelevantly mentioning disaster support funds in his insult. Considering that disaster support funds are given to 88% of Korea's population, it was interpreted as a way to mock them. In response to the criticism, he deleted all content from his Instagram account.
Meanwhile, NO:EL is currently promoting independently as part of a one-man label.
