BTS's Jimin is shining with his music on every platform. On August 31st, his first solo song, "Lie," surpassed 200,000 Shazams.
Jimin set new records as the first and only Korean idol to achieve 200,000 Shazams with four Korean solo tracks, and as the first and only Korean solo artist to achieve this with four non-promoted and non-title solo tracks. Moreover, Jimin became the second Korean solo artist ever to make this quadruple feat after Psy.
As of this writing, "Lie" has garnered 201,325 Shazams. "Filter", "Intro: Serendipity" and "Promise" have made 307,101, 276,081 and 201,294 Shazams, respectively.
Shazam is the world's no. 1 music, TV show, and ad discovery platform with 600 million users. It works by analyzing sound and seeking a match based on an audio fingerprint in a database of millions of songs. Shazam doesn’t just provide user information for passive music discovery. It links users to where they can hear more of the music. Shazam sends information such as the artist, song title, album, lyrics, video link, and the number of Shazams.
A song's Shazams are one of the indicators of popularity and reach of a song among the general public, casual fans, and non-fans. It has been known to encourage radio plays from radio stations who use it.
Last August 20th, Jimin achieved 1 million Shazams with his five solo songs—"Lie," "Serendipity," "Filter," "Promise," and "Christmas Love." This is an enormous feat, especially considering that they are all B-side and non-promoted songs.
Fans celebrated the achievement and trended "Congratulations Jimin" and "1 MILLION SHAZAMS FOR JIMIN."
Just a few days before this, on August 15th, Jimin made history as he reached 1 billion audio streams combined for his Korean solo songs across the platforms Spotify, YouTube, and SoundCloud. He became the first and only Korean solo artist to make this feat with five solo songs and the first and only Korean male solo artist to do it with purely solo songs.
He is only the second Korean solo artist overall and the only Korean solo artist to reach this huge milestone with less than a hundred songs. He made it with five solo songs.
Jimin's music continues to make waves on every music platform. Fans look forward to more of his works.
Of course, our Jimin never failed to break records. Way to go Kings!
