Female bands in the Korean Music Industry seem to be rare, as it's not as popular as female K-pop groups. So, unfortunately, a lot of bands have disbanded over the years. I wanted to make a list of the female bands that I kept track of over the years that I think deserve more recognition for their music.
Walking After U
Debut: September 2014
Company: LODIS Company Co., Ltd
Status: Active
They are based in Seoul. The members are Haein, Jia, Sunny, A-zzang. However, they have two former members called Bae Mihye "Baemi" and Song Jia. They were formed after Girls' Rock Festival Season 6 with the collaboration of two bands merged together, Duckie and Swingz.
I found them browsing Spotify around 2016. I really enjoyed their music; it seemed fresh when listening to it, and I love the beats of all the songs. My favorite song is Runaway; I think this is a good song to jump into for any new fan.
Bebop
Debut: February 14, 2014
Company: HMI Entertainment
Status: Disbanded
They made their official debut in 2014 with Between Calm and Passion. However, they were formed in 2013 and were active until 2016. The members were A-Yeon, Ju Woo, and Ji In. Their songs were so catchy and fun to listen to, so it's sad they never gained a larger fan base. They had so much potential for a band.
My favorite song from them is I'm the best. It's such a catchy song to listen to:
A-Fati
Debut: March 2014
Company: Coolwave Entertainment
Status: Disbanded
They were previously known as Amor Fati and were a 4 member that debut back in 2014 with the single Say The Word. However, due to rock music not being as popular as pop in Korea, they disbanded in 2016. Their Music videos were always interesting to watch; they were formed in a time where there weren't many Female Rock bands.
If you want to see what they had to offer, check out this music video called Another Chance.
Sweet Revenge
Debut: June 30, 2009
Company: Golden 8 Media
Status: Disbanded
They were formed back in 2008 but made their official debut in 2009 with members Jang Hyunah, Kim Soyoung, Kim Mijung, and Lee Hwayeon. Their song Beyond was the first song I heard from them a few years back. However, they disbanded in 2017. They had a few good years, but I feel as the rise in K-pop began, the group didn't regain any popularity.
I recommend you check out their live of Beyond from 2015.
Do you have any more artists to add to the list?
A-Yeon from Bebop is really active on Youtube, she does drum covers for a lot of songs. I had no idea that she had been in a group at any point though, that's cool.
As someone else pointed out, Rolling Quartz would be a good one to add.
