Ahead of the April 13 release of Kang Daniel’s third mini album ‘YELLOW’, two of the producers involved in its music shared their excitement for the album.

Paul Thompson of Marz Music Group, a hit producer who in the past has worked extensively with big artists such as EXO, SHINee, NCT 127, as well as Kang Daniel, is credited in all tracks on ‘YELLOW’. He explained in an Instagram Live on April 4 that the album is a special one for Kang Daniel due to it reflecting his own story:

It’s about something that happened to him or something that he felt during his times, and I think that’s really important to do in K-pop and so I’m happy.

He worked really hard. He wrote all the lyrics for every song. It’s about his life, his story. It’s really meaningful to him.

When asked what his favorite track was, he strongly stated his answer as the title track, “Antidote”:

[My favorite track] is “Antidote”, which is the title. It’s by far my favorite track [...] That song is one of my favorite demos of all time. That’s not an exaggeration. I’m so excited for this song to come out. Usually the title is not my favorite song off the albums that we do, but in this case it is.

Anthony Russo, a singer-songwriter who has worked with several K-pop artists such as CIX, The Boyz, EXO, and started working with Kang Daniel for his album ‘MAGENTA’, is credited in three tracks on ‘YELLOW’ including the pre-release “PARANOIA”. In an interview with media personality Racquel Goldy, he spoke excitedly about the first track on the album, “Digital”, and described it as leaning in the direction that he’d like to see more from Kang Daniel in the future:

I'd love to see him do more rock. Not fully rock but just like rock kind of influence [...] There's actually a song on the project. It’s called “Digital”. That song actually has little elements of that in it, and I really, really think that he did so well on it. It's like the most hype song ever. It’s so high energy and insane, and I remember writing that in literally like two hours—everything. I was like just non-stop click record. I was on one, and then I got done with it and was like, ‘This is crazy, but who would do this song? This is too intense.’ And you'll understand when you hear it, but of course he was like, ‘Let's go. I'll do that,’ and I was like ‘Alright.’

The two producers also mentioned their appreciation for the synergistic relations between Kang Daniel’s company KONNECT Entertainment and the people working on the songs.

Russo explained in his interview:

Kang's team is so open to sharing press with us. I know when “PARANOIA” came out, he was willing to include us on certain articles, and they talked about the writers and producers of the song and how we were all on “State of Wonder” with inverness and there are this kind of things that are linking everybody.

Thompson also said through his live:

We love working with Daniel, and KONNECT Entertainment is awesome. Shout out to everybody there. I love the synergy that we have there.
