BTOB's Peniel spoke out against the rising racism against Asian-Americans.
With the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, racism and racially-motivated attacks against Asian-Americans have been on the rise. This past January, a young man shoved 84-year-old Vicha Ratanapakdee while he was out for a morning walk in San Francisco, and he eventually died due to his injuries. In the past few weeks, a 91-year-old Chinese man in San Francisco was pushed into the sidewalk from behind in an unprovoked attack. These attacks are raising concerns over anti-Asian violence and harassment that some Asian-American community leaders allege were spurred on by references to the coronavirus as "the China virus" or "Kung Flu."
To show his support for Asian-Americans, Peniel spoke up on his Instagram story, writing, "Asians must be included in our anti-racism."
With artists like Jay Park previously showing public support for the 'Black Lives Matter' movement, it seems like the BTOB member also wants to show his solidarity with Asian-Americans.
