Jo Kwon reveal of having a genderless image, gets confused as being non binary by western Kpop fans

Jo Kwon recently discussed his role in the musical Jaime & how he wants to express himself in a way that is androgynous
Unfortunately, some news outlets & fans took this as him considering himself to be non binary, a claim of a third gender that isn’t amongst the biological “male or female” identities
There are accounts that confirmed the mistranslation
It appears this is a good 'ole case of mistranslation and misinterpretation. In the original article (July 30, 2020), Jo Kwon speaks about a genderless image, not a genderless identity.
I was a bit confused to see Nextshark tweet about this now, considering it is not new info.
he talks about the power of neutral image he feels wearing heels & how like superheros go from normal to hero with just a cape, he feels the same way wearing heels. he video called with Jamie Campbell himself & they empathised a lot on each other~ the interview is so nice 😢💖
Despite these confirmations, many fans who believe in non-binary were very hostile to confirm his pronouns as “They/Them”, despite Jo Kwon never saying he identified as that
It seems as though many western fans got excited to put him under the non-binary category before seeing whether he actually said he was so, and giving him pronouns he never expressed to have wanted in order to push the special trendy agenda
People gotta be careful with forcing the non binary claims. Not everyone who expresses androgyny wants to be called that

correct me if im wrong but i dont think Korean has pronouns anyways?? ive never learned of a word that directly translates to he/she/they. Korean just uses words like man/woman/person to describe a persons gender. If a sentence doesnt say man/woman then it is hard to tell who the subject of the sentence is. I think thats why jo kwon hasnt outright specified a pronoun. its hard to know bc of this problem with the language
