On August 26 Bit Hit Entertainment released an update on how they are handling malicious comments about BTS,
"Hello, this is Big Hit Entertainment.
Here is our notice on the progress of our legal action against malicious posts regarding BTS.
We are regularly taking legal action against malicious slander, the spread of false rumors, personal attacks, and defamation regarding BTS based on our own internal procedures.
Currently, we are in the process of taking legal action against the posts we gathered during the first half of the year.
Of these, we have completed filing an official complaint to the Namdaemun Police Station against the netizens who continuously created malicious comments and posts on online communities, portal sites, and social media that have gone beyond the boundaries of what is socially acceptable...
The data was collected through our own monitoring and the Big Hit tip-off account and was submitted [to the police], who are carrying out an investigation on the suspects based on the data.
We apologize for the late notice, as we had to secure the identities of the suspects and keep them confidential.
We have persistently taken strong legal action against the personal attacks and defamation of our agency’s artists, and as long as these behaviors persist, we will continue to take the same measures.
As always, we emphasize that there will be no mercy or negotiation. We ask fans for their cooperation.
We will work harder to protect the rights of our artists. Thank you."
Currently, BTS is on vacation and will be back before the end of the year.
Not liking or having an opinion on a group is fine. But going on relentless smear campaigns to defame an artist shouldn't be accepted. I'm glad BigHit are doing this and I hope people think twice in the future before they post malicious comments and rumours. I honestly don't understand what motivates antis, what is there to gain from hating on a group?!
