On March 30, Fuji TV, one of the biggest TV stations in Japan, held a 4-hour special called the "100 protagonists of Heisei entertainment news" where they counted down the top entertainers of the Heisei era (last 30 years). The countdown was divided into 4 separate lists: one for male entertainers, one for female entertainers, one for comedians and one for foreign entertainers.
Deceased American pop star Michael Jackson topped the list on the international entertainer side, followed by Mission Impossible actor Tom Cruise. Actors Brad Pitt and Leonardo Dicaprio as well as veteran pop star Madonna also made the top 5. Korean acts TVXQ (7th), KARA (11th) and Girls' Generation(19th) managed to make their way into the list too.

No surprise. TVXQ, KARA and SNSD are whole another level in Japan. If TVXQ didn't split, I'm sure they would have ranked higher
