Former F.T. Island member Jonghun's attempts to bribe police and related text messages have been revealed.
On March 21, Jonghun was booked for attempting to bribe a police officer to cover up driving under the influence, and SBS' '8 O'Clock News' has now revealed more details on the case. In messages he shared in Jung Joon Young and Seungri's controversial chatroom, Jonghun expressed, "The [handcuffs] were very painful. Anyone who hasn't worn them before shouldn't talk. Before he put them on, I offered him 10 million Won (~$8,850 USD)."
According to reports, a police officer noticed Jonghun driving in reverse after he saw a police car in February of 2016 and stopped him for acting suspiciously. The police officer attempted to test the former F.T. Island member for driving under the influence, but he immediately ran off, causing the officer to restrain and handcuff him. He's said to have tried to bribe the officer and lied about his identity and occupation. A public figure's DUI is reported to higher-up police officers, but because Jonghun stated he was unemployed, the police officer did not inform his superior.
It's reported Jonghun's blood alcohol content level was 0.097%, and he received a fine and suspended license. However, he was not charged for bribery until March 21, 2019 after the officer confirmed he was offered a bribe.
In other news, FNC Entertainment has officially canceled Jonghun's contract.
