MBC's 'Idol Star Athletics Championship (ISAC)' is receiving criticism for uneven screen time.
Once again, the annual event took place in time for the Lunar New Year holiday. In the women's 60-meter sprint, Holics' Yeonjung came in 1st place. However, there was no interview with the gold medalist. In fact, Yeonjung didn't receive much screen time at all.
Netizens pointed out the more popular idols such as the members of IZ*ONE, received greater attention and a lot of screen time even when they placed last. Many questioned fairness and criticized 'ISAC' for gearing the spotlight based on popularity.
Comments stated, "I understand this is a show and viewer ratings are important but don't call it a 'championship' when they are only going to focus on popular idols," "She won 1st place. She deserves an interview," "Not only Yeonjung but they were like this for every category. They only care about the popular idols," "Don't be inviting everyone if they're only going to focus on certain groups," "Rookies worked so hard in hopes of receiving even a bit of screen time. This is brutal," "She was on screen for like 2 seconds..." "I didn't even know she was running until she won."
That's very unfair indeed. They went there, putting strain on their bodies in order to get a bit of screen time if they won and they get nothing when they do.
