BTS won TIME Magazine's 'Person of the Year' poll.
Every December, TIME Magazine selects the 'Person of the Year,' or the most influential figure or a thing of the year. In the reader's poll for 2018, the Big Hit Entertainment boy group took first place by gaining 9% of the votes. Planet Earth came in second with 8%. South Korea President Moon Jae In is also spotted at fifth place with 4%.
TIME wrote, "Korean boy band BTS has won the online reader’s poll for TIME’s Person of the Year, beating out other artists, world leaders and politicians among those who voted. The seven-member K-Pop band — which includes members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jung Kook — held on to their long lead in the poll. Planet Earth narrowly trailed BTS in the poll. With millions of votes cast, BTS outpaced Planet Earth by 0.12%."
In June, BTS also made it on TIME's 'The 25 Most Influential People on the Internet.'
"poll"
That kinda says it all. The real award goes to whoever TIME chooses themselves whereas the poll is just to get people to visit their website more
