On November 16, TS Entertainment delivered an official statement to the press declaring their intentions to appeal the Seoul district court's decision regarding SECRET member Hyosung's exclusive contract with the label.
TS Entertainment stated, "While it's true that Jeon Hyosung's exclusive contract was declared invalid during the first court trial back on November 14, the court also ruled that the label did not lawfully violate any exclusive contract rules related to balancing profits and income, management authority, etc; as a result, we certainly plan on submitting an appeal."
The label continued, "Jeon Hyosung filed a lawsuit against TS Entertainment regarding issues of balancing profits and income, violation of management authorities, etc, back in September of 2017; [in the court trial,] Jeon Hyosung's claims were only partially recognized while in entirety, they were dismissed without properly being concluded as valid."
Furthermore, TS Entertainment claimed that the monetary amount of 130,000,000 KRW (~ $115,000 USD) mentioned in various media reports is not money that they withheld from Hyosung; it is a combined amount of Hyosung's remaining contract fees plus payment Hyosung refused to accept after her lawsuit with the label began.
Finally, TS relayed, "We are greatly disappointed that the court accepted this amount as the label's failure to fulfill payment duties to the artist, and therefore the label's contract was ruled invalid. We again express our regret toward the court's decision, and will do our best in the appeal case to right the wrongs."
I’m surprised they still get trainees. This company is going way too far. Just pay her for her work and be done with it.
