In recent unfortunate news, 34-year-old A and his 63-year-old mother B were arrested for the attempted murder of his 72-year-old father E.

According to reports, the mother and son pair conspired to murder his father and acquire insurance money as the son had trouble gathering finances for a marriage fund. Son A and mother B as well as 43-year-old accomplice C and 32-year-old accomplice D were officially taken in by police at the Daegu Dongbu Police Station on October 16.

Accomplice D, who was contracted to kill A's father, stated, "I was contracted to murder, but I failed. The client actually tried to kill me instead," and requested legal representation. Accomplice C was also contracted to kill A's father, and on June 22, he attempted to murder him by forcing a car accident in the Uljin, Gyeongbuk area. However, the father survived though he sustained injuries. 

The mother of A is said to have instructed C on how to kill her husband, including informing accomplice C about her husband's normal driving route. In a twisted turn of events, A's mother requested she herself was murdered after her husband's assassination failed. A's mother is reported to have suggested her son call a hit on her instead to receive 600 million Won ($532,580.64 USD) in insurance money. 

Son A and accomplice D as well as mother B agreed to split the insurance money among the surviving conspirators, agreeing to kill A's mother two months after the father's attempted murder on August 6. The plan was for accomplice D to ram into B with a vehicle, but it failed when she moved out of the way as she was drunk. The son then requested another attempt at murdering his mother from accomplice D, threatening to murder D if he refused. 

According to police, A confessed the murders were planned because he needed money for his upcoming wedding and marriage fund. The police stated, "We're now handing over the case to prosecution, so we can look into the motive for further action."
