IZ*ONE is making new records with their debut album!
The 'Produce 48' girl group sold a total of 34,295 copies of their debut album 'COLOR*IZ' on the first day. This makes them the girl group with the highest debut album sales on Hanteo chart.
Previously, the record was held by Black Pink who sold a total of 19,094 copies on the first day with their debut album 'Square Up.'
Congratulations! You can watch IZ*ONE's debut MV for "La Vie en Rose" here.
That result is 80 % better than the last record by Black Pink. That's quite stunning. How often do records get broken by that much? Edging past the record holder by a few hundred albums is expected in a market where the last record was "just" 19,094, but beating them by over 15,000 albums in one go is astounding. Black Pink was popular when they released Square Up just months ago, so one would expect that the record they set was pretty high already, and now it's beaten by that much? I wonder how low the sales records must have been before Black Pink? And how much better IZ*ONE's result is compared to them? All the other popular girl groups that made records in the past with their debut albums must have sold only a few thousand copies in their first day.
