Actor Jung Suk Won has received his sentence for drug use.
This past February, Jung Suk Won, who's also known as singer Baek Ji Young's husband, was arrested in South Korea for the use of philopon and cocaine during a trip to Australia. At his trial on October 11, the actor plead guilty to some of the charges, and the Seoul Central District Court ordered 10 months of probation and 2 years of a suspended prison sentence.
His two acquaintances also received the same sentencing, and they were each given a fine of 300,000 Won (263.48 USD).
The Seoul Central District Court stated, "Drug-related crimes not only cause physical and mental harm to the individual, but also harm society at large. It has a negative effect on society as a whole, so it needs a corresponding punishment. The defendants' drug-taking behavior appears to be a one-time act of curiosity during his travel abroad. He's deeply reflecting on his crimes."
