Highlight Doojoon's military enlistment has been confirmed for this week.
Following reports of Doojoon's upcoming enlistment, Around Us Entertainment confirmed on August 22, "Highlight's group leader Doojoon received his military draft notice recently, and he'll be enlisting active duty on August 24, 2018," which means fans will be sending him off in just 2 days as rumored. His drama 'Let's Eat 3' will also be shortened from 16 to 14 episodes.
The label continued, "You must be caught offguard and surprised by the enlistment news as Doojoon has been promoting non-stop since his debut in 2009. He was also surprised by the sudden enlistment notice. However, Doojoon will film his current drama until the end with a strong mindset, organize his thoughts, and fulfill his military duty as is necessary as a Korean citizen. We apologize for not being able to tell you ahead of time and that you had to suddenly hear the news through an article, and we once again ask for the understanding of fans."
Around Us concluded, "Please show lots of anticipation and support for Doojoon, who's always prioritized his family, group, and fans from debut until now, so that he may be discharged in good health and return as a more mature, greater person."
Doojoon has expressed his wishes to enlist quietly, so his exact enlistment location and time have not been revealed. He'll start his 5 weeks of basic training on August 24 and continue on as an active duty soldier.
In related news, Highlight member Yoseob is also reported to be starting up his military service soon as a conscripted police officer.
