The Subcommittee of Broadcast Deliberation, which met on May 17 to discuss the controversy surrounding MBC's variety show, 'Point of Omniscient Interference', came to a decision to ask for a fine on MBC for the station's misuse of Sewol Ferry news clip footage for comedic purposes.
After the Subcommittee's decision, the topic will be passed on to the head officials of the Korean Communications Standards Commission, who will determine the exact cost of the fine.
During this meeting on May 17, MBC's variety branch president and vice president, as well as other CPs of the variety branch, gave their testimonies regarding the incident on 'Point of Omniscient Interference'. Meanwhile, 'Point of Omniscient Interference' will be on a hiatus until May 19.
