Kim Jong Kook talked about his identity as a singer.
On the May 5 airing of Mnet's 'The Call', the 1st lineup of singers including Kim Jong Kook, Wheesung, Kim Bum Soo, and Lee Seung Hoon took the time to meet their artist for a collaboration.
In the introduction clip, Kim Jong Kook shared, "Young people don't know that I'm a singer. They just think I'm a funny entertainer with a good body. It's been too long since I have shown myself as a singer. But I have received much love with the song 'One Man'."
He continued to relay his achievements as a singer, saying, "It's not easy for a solo artist to win the Daesang at the 3 major broadcast stations (MBC, KBS, SBS). They stopped the award ceremonies after me so I became the last artist to win the Daesang at all 3 major broadcast stations. I was able to survive till now due to my unique voice. I'm also good at high notes."
Kim Jong Kook added, "I write songs myself sometimes and I think lyrics are very important. And the high notes are important to give power to the performance. I'm the one who can definitely well play that role (with high notes)." He brought laughter as he added, "Please be with me if you want to enter the international market."
