Joy's absence was announced just a day before the event. Furthermore, the government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that they were unaware of Joy's absence until they saw the news through media outlets, implying that SM Entertainment did not give them a proper heads up.
Some netizens are criticizing Joy and her agency for the poor management, especially since this is an important, groundbreaking event.
Comments stated, "If they cannot make it as a whole then I think it's right for another group to attend instead...", "She's a singer before she's an actress", "This is not some music show. What the hell are they doing? They need to switch to a different group for the concert", "They are supposed to represent South Korea... They should've just said they can't go", "This is so wrong", "They shouldn't have scheduled it in the first place if Joy couldn't attend."
