The track is gaining much love not only by the fans in Japan but also by many EXO-Ls around the globe. To CBC News, the young producer expressed amazement at the success of "Electric Kiss" and how he has turned into a hit K-Pop producer, stating, "Social media, its amazing," and explained, "I can make a beat in my bedroom in Dorval, and get it placed and sung by the biggest K-Pop group halfway around the world."
Evan Berard never imagined such day will come but the unimaginable happened when a producer in Sweden introduced Evan's beats to EXO. The K-Pop stars, who were preparing for their Japanese comeback, fell in love with the beats and decided to use it for their track.
Prior to the creation of "Electric Kiss", Evan Berard says he searched and listened to K-Pop for inspiration, and was blown away when he came across EXO's "Call Me Baby". He was instantly a fan of the group.
"I just loved that beat, so I wanted to create something in the same vein. But I never thought it would end up getting sent to EXO!" said Evan. "But just, amazingly, I found a publisher and they sent it to EXO — and that just blew my mind."
When he was contacted about EXO's interest in his beats, he didn't believe it at first, but things got real when SM Entertainment asked for more files for the group's recording. And things got really real (and exciting!) when the track was officially released. Evan Berard said he received tons of messages from EXO-Ls, thanking him for the great production.
Evan Berard admits he was rather an "unknown" artist prior to "Electric Kiss". The young producer never had formal training, but now he's getting offers and requests from a variety of artists. He hopes to continue working with K-Pop, and said, "I found so much inspiration in it. Some of the beats are the hardest beats I've heard."
