On October 29, Jung Joon Young left Korea to film for 'Laws of the Jungle' in the Cook Islands. A day later, his close friend and '1 Night 2 Days' co-star Kim Joo Hyuk tragically passed away after a car accident. Unfortunately, Jung Joon Young was unaware of his passing until 3 days later due to failures in communication.
'Laws of the Jungle' producers in Korea explained they've tried hard to get in reach with the crew in the Cook Islands, however, had a difficult time doing so as messages and phone calls were not going through to the location.

The communication failure shed light on the program's lack of emergency contact. Netizens targeted 'Laws of the Jungle' with criticism, stating, "I don't understand how they don't have an emergency contact on standby. What were they gonna do if an accident occurs? I feel like they didn't notify him on purpose to continue the filming without any issues", "Do you think it makes sense for them to be filming in a location where there's no emergency contact at all? This is dangerous."
On the other hand, some showed understanding in the communication failures, commenting, "They're filming overseas in remote locations so it's understandable.."
