Han Kyung Chun CP of upcoming KBS idol rebooting program 'The Unit' spoke on the plagiarism accusations.
Upon the release of 'The Unit' teasers and official MVs, the show was accused of plagiarizing the stage of popular Japanese idol group AKB48. At the press conference for 'The Unit' on October 25, the producer shared his thoughts on the issue.
Han CP commented, "We had to create (content) beyond what's already existing so we were limited to a great degree. Broadcast networks have to follow the trend. It's hard to find creativity when we are chasing the hot issues of popular culture."
He continued, "As for the similarities to AKB48, I saw their stage for the first time (when the accusations arose). We gathered many people and faced limitations when attempting to embrace the sheer amount of people."
