On September 6, Jeon Won wrote an article about the blackmail controversy involving Big Hit Entertainment. The agency revealed to have been blackmailed by CEO Lee of a marketing and contracting firm with threats stating he'll reveal information about the agency's alleged illegal marketing practices.

At the end of the article, Jeon Won added a statement about BTS' win at '2017 Billboard Music Awards'. The reporter stated, 

"With the accusations of illegal marketing practices, BTS' eligibility for the 'Top Social Artist' award comes to suspicion. If the marketing took place with the use of part-time employees (to increase votes), then it'll be fair for BTS to return the trophy."
