Some netizens who left malicious comments online have posted on online communities claiming they have been sued by Big Hit and Pledis Entertainment.

A netizen posted this on July 14:

A netizen wrote a new topic titled, 'Kekeke Hey I got sued' and wrote in the body: "I received a message yesterday and now I am in a total daze. It was for some controversy involving BTS?? Just because I wrote a few perverted words, what difference did that make? Oh well, probably some ARMY girl reported it or something F*ck Kekeke The comments were from months ago, this is crazy, if they don't hear me out, I'm seriously gonna commit suicide."

Netizens who saw the post, replied: "Seems like the agencies were enduring this all this time and finally decided to take legal action...They probably won't back down so easily kekeke," "I hope they can forgive you," "You're going to pay," and more.

Another person who was sued by Pledis left a post saying they should gather together. "If you were sued by Pledis for leaving malicious comments about Seventeen gather here', 'Those who have been contacted by Pledis reply here'"

Both companies have stated that they will take legal action against malicious commenters and they have kept their word. The associated people also posted a portion of the message sent by the agency which stated, "It appears things have gone out of hand and boiled down to this.  If approached from a legal standpoint the company is responsible for protecting the rights of the artists. Upon reviewing the negative comments towards the artists we decided to stand up and take legal action.  We would like to inform that we do not tolerate such acts as well as victimizing the artists and will strictly take necessary measures against the case.  Thank you."
