Former idol Cha Joo Hyuk receives his sentence for extensive drug use and DUI

The Seoul Central District made a settlement sentencing Cha Joo Hyuk to a year and six months of imprisonment, as well as a hefty fine of $4500 for violating the Act on Narcotic Management and the Act on Traffic Accident Treatment. Cha Joo Hyuk was taken into custody and was given a court trial the same day. 

The court stated, "Cha Joo Hyuk has committed various drug crimes for an extended period of time, including drug trafficking as well as drunk driving, causing numerous car accidents." In response, Cha replied, "I usually cannot even drink one glass of alcohol; however, because I stopped taking my medicine I resorted to drinking. I was having a difficult time and as a result have caused an accident. I'm sorry." 

Back in March and April, Cha was accused of selling ecstasy and marijuana to Mr. Kang. In August, he was accused of drinking ketamine and psychotropic medicine at a hotel in Gangnam. Then, in October, he was accused of drunk driving and ramming into three cars, which resulted in a license revocation.
