He set up an 'economy research center' within a church and collected over 20 billion KRW (approximately 17.5 million USD) from about 150 people from January 2010 to August 2016. He told them it was the will of God, and that they may be punished if they did not pay. He used other people's investments to pay off the older investors, and if he received complaints about late payments, he would use his daughter to say, "My daughter is a famous celebrity. Do you think I would commit fraud?" He also used the money to buy expensive cars for executive staff of the team.

However, the police arrested Pastor Park as well as Ms. Kim, who was the consultation leader. 18 others who had worked under the pair are being investigated without detention.
