A study by Imperial College London and the World Health Organization shows that South Korean women will be the first in the world to have an average life expectancy above 90.

The results were calculated by analyzing smoking rates, medical advances, and obesity patterns of 35 industrialized countries. By 2030, South Korea women are expected to have the longest life, averaging 90-years of age.

South Korean men also took #1 on life expectancy in 2030 with an average life expectancy of 84. On the other hand, Americans are expected to have one of the lowest life expectancies among the industrialized countries with an average life expectancy of 80 for men and 83 for women.

A country's health system and diet are assumed to be the greatest factors influencing the life expectancies of its citizens.

Prof Majid Ezzati stated to the BBC, "South Korea has gotten a lot of things right... They seem to have been a more equal place and things that have benefited people - education, nutrition - have benefited most people. And so far, they are better at dealing with hypertension and have some of the lowest obesity rates in the world."
