A Seventeen member has stirred up controversy for what some may view to be just a simple act! Netizens are split as one side argues that he was being inconsiderate and another side brushes it off.
On January 10, a netizen who seems to be a Seventeen fan posted a picture after witnessing DK and Joshua riding the subway together. However, netizens realized that DK was sitting in a seat normally reserved for pregnant ladies, criticizing him with, "Isn't he supposed to leave the seat for pregnant women empty?"

Seventeen fans said this should not be a problem as all he has to do is move and give up his seat once a pregnant woman comes aboard. This is where the schism lies. There's no law stating that the seat has to be empty until a pregnant woman takes it. However, although there are signs these days like a key ring or coin purse to signify a woman is in her early stage of pregnancy, passengers still fail to recognize the signs and to give up their seat. That is why the Seoul Metro and Seoul Metropolitan Rapid Transit stated, "We need to do promotions so that the seat for pregnant women to sit will always be empty for them."
Divided netizen comments include, "Even if there was a pregnant woman, if someone is sitting in that seat, it's hard to ask that person to move. It's right to leave it empty," "It's good to leave it empty, but if you take the seat, all you have to do is move for a pregnant woman. Is this really a controversy..." "If there were no pregnant lady, he could sit there, no big deal," and, "When I get on the subway, I don't sit in the seat for the elderly or the pregnant even if those seats are empty. It's not like the subway shakes a lot like the bus; he could just stand. Does he really want to sit in the chair for pregnant ladies?"
