Civilians catch suspect after an 8-mile hit and run chase, give reward money to victim's family

On January 20, Seoul police officials reported that back on the 16th, Mr. 'A,' who was driving under the influence at the time crashed into an oncoming�motorcycle while making a left turn. 'A' did not stop after the accident and fled the scene.

Victim Mr. Lee who was making a delivery at that moment was immediately rushed to the hospital where he later passed away.

A witness at the scene, Mr. Lee Won Hee, an Audi owner dialed emergency services and chased after the hit-and-run suspect with Mr. Ryu Jae Ha who also witnessed what had happened and was driving behind him.

After a 13 kilometer (8 mile) chase, the suspect was finally caught thanks to the efforts of the civilians who disabled 'A's vehicle. �It was reported that 'A' had an alcoholic level of 0.159%.

Having suffered 15 million KRW ($13,000 USD) in damages to their vehicles, Mr. Lee and Mr. Ryu decided to give the reward money to the victim's family for funeral proceedings instead of accepting it to repair their vehicles.

Mr. Lee stated, "I am glad to have done a good thing however it saddens me to hear the motorcycle driver had passed away."
