On December 9, South Korea's parliament voted to impeach President Park Geun-Hye over her corruption scandal with Choi Soon-Sil. The South Korea's National Assembly voted 234 to impeach, 56 not to impeach, and 6 abstentions.

South Korea's Constitutional Court will now decide Park's fate as the nine judges will review the case and decide if the President will be impeached or not. This deliberation process with the Constitutional Court may take up to 180 days but the country's reaction to the news is already strong on both sides.

Even high school students watched the result being announced live while still in school; the impeachment was declared, the students celebrated, pouring out to the hallways. 

Netizens also reacted to the news as it made headlines everywhere online. One commented, "She became President thanks to her dad, and she betrayed our trust, so we took the power out of her hands and we will punish her that will go down in history. All liars of present and future, remember this moment." Another netizen commented, "This is the beginning. Fight until she is out of the office!" One person said, "Her father was a dictator, and she is mentally disabled." One person celebrated by saying, "The People have won! Justice has won!" 

Park delivered a message of apology, which aired on national TV, following the voice; she said that she had caused a "big national chaos" -- referring to the corruption scandal that is still under investigation. 

Prime Minister Hwan Kyo Ahn will take over Presidential responsibilities until the Constitutional Court makes a deliberation. 

This is the second time a President has been voted to be impeached in Korea since the country operated in a democratic government with Roh Moo Hyun being the first in 2004. This presidential scandal also gathered the largest number of protestors -- over 2 million --  in one location in Korean history.
