A 23-year-old woman who killed her stalker was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

The Busan High Court gave their ruling of a 10-year prison sentence to a woman who murdered a man who stalked her. The court stated, "It seems like the woman's schizophrenia was manifested because of the victim's uninvited expression of affection, and she did turn herself into the police, but the victim was cruelly murdered and the victim's family is deeply hurt, so the nature of the crime is serious," explaining the verdict.

According to the police, after getting to know the woman in passing, the murder victim became obsessed with the woman and texted and called the woman several times a day, saying, "I want to see you," and "I love you."

On January 15 of this year, around 7PM, the victim came to the woman's house, and the woman said, "You can come in only if I can tie your hands together." When the man agreed, she tied him to a chair by his hands, chest, and legs. After blindfolding the man, she stabbed him with a kitchen knife several times, killing him.

The court acknowledged that the woman was feeble-minded at the time, but determined that her cognitive ability was not compromised.

The court document indicates that the woman had dropped out of high school in 2008 and was diagnosed with schizophrenia in September of 2013.
