UNIQ's Seungyoun opened up about his road to debut in an interview with Xports News.
The idol revealed that he has auditioned more than 50 times for SM, JYP, YG, and more. Seungyoun explained, "SM holds weekly auditions, and I went once in 2 weeks. SM always told me to stay after the audition, but I never made it. I'm still curious as to why they told me to stay. As for JYP, I don't think I was able to show all of me because I got intimidated watching other auditioners warming up. I made it at YG, and I was a trainee there for one year and a half. I learned a lot, and my skills improved a lot too."

Seungyoun continued to explain how he made his debut in UNIQ and said, "UNIQ is a Chinese-Korean collaboration group by YG and Yuehwa Entertainment. So Sungjoo hyung and I, who were YG trainees, came to join. The debut preparation took place at YG training center, so we practiced with WINNER and iKON. When I had time, I used to hang out and rap with Bobby hyung."
