Nam Ji Hyun talked about competing against her agency sunbae Gong Hyo Jin, during a recent interview with TV Daily. She recently wrapped up MBC's 'Shopping King Louie', while Gong Hyo Jin played the female lead in competing drama, 'Incarnation of Jealousy'.
She stated, "When the drama premiered, everyone said that I was too weak compared to Gong Hyo Jin in 'Incarnation of Jealousy' and Kim Ha Neul in 'On the Way to the Airport'. I thought that it was expected... I just thought that I should try my very best from where I was."
Nam Ji Hyun and Gong Hyo Jin, who are both from the same agency, drew a lot of attention while their dramas competed for the first place in TV ratings until the very end.
Regarding the competition, Nam Ji Hyun commented, "I didn't care too much about the TV ratings because results of dramas can be so unpredictable, and there are many factors that affect it."
She added, "Because she and I were both busy, we did not get to meet up. In my heart, though, I would say, 'sunbae must be busy filming like me.' About a week before the end of our dramas, we were filming in very close locations. I had a break... I went to a chocolate cafe nearby, bought some chocolate, and sent it wrapped all pretty to sunbae. She sent a thank you message, saying that the chocolate was so sweet and delicious. I did not get to see her but I was thankful that she enjoyed my present."
And what did their agency think about the competition? "They were happily worried," Nam Ji Hyun said with a laughter.
